Who are your people?
Do you remember team sports in elementary school when team leaders would take turns choosing kids for their side? I was never chosen first (or second or third), and I remember that sinking feeling of being chosen close to last. It stinks. Thankfully, I'm not too scarred by those feelings of rejection. I grew up in a loving Christian home and had enough other validating skills and talents to not be crushed. But let's be honest, life can be way tougher than not being chosen for a game of kickball or called out for that special something.
Revelation 17:14 gives us a powerful reminder of who we are and Who is on our side:
They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.
Without getting into the throes of the sometimes-difficult-to-understand events in Revelation, we do know this verse speaks to something that is yet to come. However, certainly this verse goes deeper than one particular moment in the future for us as believers who embrace the full context of Scripture.
Thessalonians 2:14 reminds us that we are called...now!
John 15:16 reminds us that we are chosen...now!
Matthew 25:21 reminds us to be faithful...now!
I love the now and not yet of God's Word! This verse presents a picture of the universal struggle between good and evil TODAY. So EVEN NOW, we are the called, chosen and faithful of God! And as we wait for its complete fulfillment, we walk in all that God has called and chosen us to be, determined to be faithful to the end.
As women in ministry, we are...
Called out of Darkness.
Chosen for a Purpose.
Faithful to the End.
