Several years ago, I sat in a morning Bible study in the Florida Camp Meeting and heard Dr. David Cooper make a statement that changed my perspective on my work.  Dr. Cooper said, “Instead of being a perfectionist, pursue excellence.”  The Bible says of Daniel, “Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him . . . “ (Daniel 6:3 NKJ).  I believe that God created you and me to live above the level of mediocrity; He created us for excellence.  Webster defines excellence as “the state of possessing good qualities in an unusual or eminent degree; the state of excelling in any thing.”  Book T. Washington said, Excellence is to do a common thing in an uncommon way.”  I want to encourage you to pursue excellence.  Although excellence requires hard work and commitment, it is worth it.  Excellence glorifies God.
